Prayers for Bobby

This film cracks me every single time I watch it, almost 5-6 times now…

It is based on the book, Prayers for Bobby: A Mother’s Coming to Terms with the Suicide of Her Gay Son, by Leroy F. Aarons, which is itself based on the true story of the life and legacy of Bobby Griffith, a young gay man who killed himself in 1983 due to his mother’s and community’s homophobia.

If you believe in social justice and God’s ultimate will for everyone to LOVE each other, you will love this movie. Don’t ever judge or condemn anyone, we are too little to do that…
Try to understand, accept and love!

I finally forced my mum to watch it with me (with Chinese subtitles) and we started discussion, rather than avoiding to talk about it for almost 10 years!

You can watch the movie on Youtube, or download it here!
